With these scales you have to hop on, hop off, then hop on again and be quick about it before the lights go off and you have to start all over again, hop on, hop off.........

I have just received this product and after the first use it failed and is now totally dead. I suggest you avoid it!!

I was looking for a basic set of digital scales for accurate weight measurement. These do the job perfectly. They are simple, with no bells & whistles, so if you want a set of scales which calculate body fat & other more complex functions, these are not for you. However, what they *do* do, they do well. Easy to use straight out of the box and with a stylish appearance, the ten year guarantee is the cherry on top. I purchased from Pharmacy Place and delivery was quick and problem-free, at a great price.

These scales are great value for money. The upper platform is only made out of plastic (no fancy glass or stainless steel) but despite this the scales are well finished and the material seems very tough and should last well. This particular model is very compact compared to others I have seen, which for me is good as I don't have a huge bathroom! You can change the scale display to read in metric or imperial (Stones, Kg or Lbs) via a small switch on the underside. To operate the scales all you have to do is give the platform a firm push with your foot which turns the scales on, wait until the display zeroes then just hop on! The scales turn themselves off automatically after a few seconds of inactivity. This product seems very accurate as my work has a professional calibrated scale and these scales are within a whisker of the professional scales reading. Not bad when you consider that the professional device costs over twenty times as much! All in all I am delighted with my purchase. The only down side is the LCD display panel - the panel is big but not back-lit. I can't say I have a problem with this as my bathroom is well lit, but I could imagine this might present a problem for some.

I only wanted a cheap set of scales, but obviously, I wanted them to be reasonably accurate for the price. The Salter 981 is great, easy to use, simple switch to swap between stone, kg and lbs, and they came with their own batteries and little feet if you're using it on the carpet. Definitely recommended. One thing to say, the LCD screen can be a little difficult to read, as there is no backlight, so make sure you have a light on! Sounds daft but it's true!
